SUMMARY: 

The Assistant Director position requires an individual that is self-motivated, highly driven & impact focused, and who is passionate about being connected and immersed in the entrepreneurial community in North Texas, helping support, build and grow it.

TechFW is an entrepreneur support organization based in Fort Worth, TX, that helps entrepreneurs commercialize innovative technologies in Tarrant County.  

The ideal candidate has experience handling internal and external business operations, business development, fundraising, community engagement, relationship management and process improvement. This team member will work alongside the Executive Director in defining and executing the strategic plan and vision of the organization. They will also be involved in leading internal team members. They will also manage existing and recruit new partnerships that help the organization expand to better serve entrepreneurs launching innovative technologies.  

Top candidates will be skilled at strategic planning, business development, fundraising and leadership. Top candidates need be skilled in anticipating needs for the organization and team members. The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications is a must. The Assistant Director will serve as a representative of TechFW into the greater community across North Texas and assist in growing TechFW and building and fostering community partnerships.   

REPORTS TO:  Executive Director 

SUPERVISES: Direct supervision of all Operations and Marketing team members.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

Organizational Strategy 

  • Works with the Executive Director to establish and implement short- and long-range organization and program goals and objectives. 

  • Support Strategic Planning Committee. 

Organizational Effectiveness 

  • Designs and implements relevant reporting systems on organizational goal performance. 

  • Aids Executive Director in leading team training initiatives.  

  • Continually spots opportunities for increased efficiencies and operational effectiveness and helps team implement processes and procedures.  

  • Leads and manages the Operations and Marketing team on a daily basis, and overall responsibility of office functionality.  

  • Support Finance and Governance committees. 

Fundraising and Development 

  • Leads in the planning, design, delivery and evaluation of business development and fundraising initiatives. 

  • Increase philanthropic gifts, resources and sponsorships in support of program activities and events from current sponsors and partners and prospective supporters.  

Client Development 

  • Aid in recruitment of high quality entrepreneurs into our programs and events, mentors for our MCrew program, and accredited investors to the Cowtown Angels program. 

  • Coaches clients on relevant experience.   

Marketing and Communications 

  • Works with the Marketing team in crafting key messaging and materials for fundraising and partnership relations. Oversee newsletter, press releases and external communications prior to distribution. 

  • Prepares, reviews, and distributes official communications, informational materials and other documents for distribution to sponsors and partner organizations.  

  • Oversees Sponsorship/Partner relationships and agreed upon communications. 

Partnerships 

  • Establish and maintain relationships with universities, and other agencies and organizations in the community including regional entrepreneurial and economic development organizations. 

  • Support Outreach and Programs Committee. 

Professional Development 

  • Participation in professional organizations. Attend conferences and workshops and serve on committees as needed. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Strong presentation and communication skills 

  • Proven leadership and managerial abilities  

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines 

  • Strong critical thinking skills and strategic thinker 

  • Ability to lead, direct, coordinate and evaluate diverse work efforts. 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 

  • Ability to adapt to roles with a dynamic team structure 

  • Strong managerial experience that empowers team to build on strengths and able to identify gaps in possible needed skill set for organization. 

  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

Education:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 8 years of experience in Economic and Business Development or similar fields 

 Experience:  

  • At least 5 years of experience in building collaborative partnerships 

  • At least 8 years of enlightened managerial experience 

  • Fundraising and developing sponsorship packages experience required  

  • Experience working for a non profit 

  • Established vast network of community leaders
